Activities During year 2009 / 2010
All activities are Cross Border in nature.
Inter-schools (Primary)
There are seven primary schools in our working area, Five in the Riverstown area and two in the Brookeborough area
Autumn 2009
Creative Writing Competition using the medium of Poetry.
The theme will be based on being different.
Spring 2010
Cultural Awareness Project.
An exciting project looking at the cultures of seven different countries, which now have citizens living in our local communities. Each school will take on one country and explore its history, culture, Sports and industry. In May they will all come together in Riverstown, to meet people from those countries and present their projects. Each school will then receive a presentation symbolic of the country they have studied.
Youth / Young Adult
We are currently finalising plans for our Youth Initiative.
Activities will include:
Team Building through shared social activities e.g. orienteering / water sports,
discussion groups Media Project – research, design and produce a calendar
Youth involvement in the community Youth Awards Night

The theme for our discussion group this will be “towards a lasting Peace”

Cultural
We will organise a series of Cross Border Events that Celebrate the Cultural traditions of both communities.
Art Group
Our Art group will explore conflict, peace and reconciliation through the medium of art.
Residential Weekends
We will be organising a number of residential weekends to explore issues that come up through the activities of Riverbrooke, this will enable the participants to explore the issues relating to peace and reconciliation at a deeper level.
Themed Seminar
We will be organising a Themed Seminar in late Spring 2010 aimed at Politicians, Social Workers, community workers and Youth workers.
